I've been part of the Quindici19 group for just over a year, so not very long, but I'm really happy to have joined. Although my background isn't strictly linked to the world of cinema – I come from the world of contemporary art – I felt welcomed straight away, because what we share above all are values and a similar outlook on life. For me, Quindici19 is first and foremost a big family. The work that represents me is Anselm Kiefer's The Seven Palaces, inspired by the Sefer Hekhalot, an ancient Hebrew text that recounts a symbolic journey of spiritual elevation. The materials also carry significant symbolic meaning: amongst the various levels of the concrete towers, there are books and lead; the former refer to cultural elevation, whilst lead (a metal associated with melancholy) evokes the weight of memory and history. In this work, ruin, culture and the possibility of a better future coexist.
